Darby will draw attention to the importance of each chakra and their own particular sound in this unique class. As we know, sound has from time immemorial been used for healing, energising and the altering of mental states .

Therefore, presents quite a potent combination when we focus on the seed-sounds (bijas) throughout the practice. This can really have a revelatory affect us – as if we are now running a charge through our pedalling.

The class will follow a gentle flow of Ashtanga vinyasa practice with rhythmic chanting to the sound of the bijas. In addition the while given by Darby as he guides the class. You will leave being converted in this step-up conversion using the natural power of seed-sounds.

Darby has been practicing Ashtanga Yoga for over 40 years. He began his practice with his wife Joanne in 1979 when they spent four years in Mysore with Pattabhi Jois. They are part of the few teachers worldwide who have attained the highest level of Ashtanga Yoga teaching accreditation and are certified by Pattabhi Jois to teach the original Ashtanga method.

Darby’s teaching is dynamic and direct while giving students the essence of the energy of this yoga. His wisdom and warmth attract a vibrant community of students who are drawn to his humor, his attentive nature and his steadfast commitment to improving each student’s physical alignment.
